A yoga-inspired birth

Mama R – “Our little girl was birthed from a squatting position – the yoga over the past 6 months has really helped – thank you so much!!! I really do advocate hypnobirthing too, it’s full of powerful tools to help you through the journey.”

Just a quick note from the Heath. We welcomed our little girl peacefully into our family in the early hours of Saturday morning. Surges began Friday afternoon on her due date and we headed to the hospital in the evening when they became more frequent and intense. I was monitored and the midwife confirmed I was in established labour so we were admitted to the unit. Despite being in the consultant led unit, I was able to have the birth I had wished for. I was lucky in that the wireless monitoring was available along with the birth pool so we headed to that room where things progressed pretty quickly. We put on the hypnobirthing track (on repeat!!) and the playlist I had created, dimmed the lights, switched on the tea lights and dotted them around the pool. The environment was calm and warming. The midwife was incredibly supportive and respectful of my wishes. She commented how calm she was herself by the environment! I had minimal vaginal exams and she let me just progress in my own way and time.

I breathed through every surge and changed positions when I needed to. Birthing in the pool was a euphoric experience which I’m so thankful for. Our little girl was birthed from a squatting position – the yoga over the past 6 months has really helped – thank you so much!!! I really do advocate hypnobirthing too, it’s full of powerful tools to help you through the journey.

Heading home shortly for a nice warm shower 🙂
