Mama B says – “I was expecting to be sent home as I really wasn’t convinced I was actually in labour, so when the midwife told me I was 8cm dilated I was delighted!”
Hi Claire, I just wanted to let you know that our second little boy, arrived about 3 weeks ago. Time has flown but we’re enjoying having a baby in our lives again, even if that does mean sleepless nights 😉
I started feeling some pelvic pressure on my due date but didn’t think much of it and carried on as normal during the day. That evening the pressure got more intense and was coming and going more regularly. I went to bed around 10pm and was then experiencing these waves of pressure around every 10minutes but was able to sleep in between them. Around 1am they started becoming more frequent but I was managing with just focusing on breathing through them. I woke my husband at 2.45am as by now they were more frequent and more intense. I still wasn’t sure if I was in labour though as I didn’t experience any ‘classic’ pains in my tummy and it felt completely different from labour with my first baby. I decided to call the MLU and after a chat they suggested I go in to be examined. I was expecting to be sent home as I really wasn’t convinced I was actually in labour, so when the midwife told me I was 8cm I was delighted! I got into the pool then and after a couple more contractions felt the urge to push so got onto the bed. Within two pushes, and about 40 minutes after arriving at hospital, our baby boy was born!
The whole experience was excellent and all the staff were fantastic. My husband and I were so well looked after and we didn’t feel that the COVID situation had any impact on the care we received.
I want to say a huge thank you to too for your pregnancy yoga classes. Having those to look forward to every week, during what was such an unsettling few months, was such a massive help. The breathing techniques got me through the labour without needing any other pain relief and gave me a very positive birth experience.
