Daddy S says: “I’m so blessed to have delivered my daughter into the world and the techniques we learnt in your Hypnobirthing classes really help us and really helped me”
Hi Claire
I remember you saying that you wished you had more Birthing Partner birthing stories so here’s mine.
My wife and I practiced the Hypnobirthing Techniques you taught us throughout the pregnancy. We found them very helpful and will carry on using some of the techniques in our day to day life.
A few weeks ago we were on holiday in Cornwall and we had a bit of a scare. I got a stomach bug and was a bit ill and then my wife started to have surges! We called our midwife unit at home and were told to go straight to the nearest midwife unit. We had a hospital bag but didn’t have everything we needed or wanted. I stayed as calm as I could and we listened to our baby playlist on the way to hospital. We did some breathing and used some Hypnobirthing techniques. It transpired that it was a false alarm and we were able to go home.
My wife’s waters broke at 3am on the 29th November. After her water’s broke, my wife went back to sleep and then woke up again a few hours later with some light cramps. We called the hospital and were asked to come back in at 3pm. While we waited we stayed calm and my wife did some Hypnobirthing breathing. We went in to the hospital as asked at 3pm and had a few tests. They said that my wife wasn’t that far along and we were asked to go back home and, if nothing happened, we were booked in to be induced at midnight.
We got home around 4:30pm. We put the lights down low. Light our candles. Spritzed the room with a calming spray. Put on our favourite comedy and ordered some food. My wife walked around and did some more Hypnobirthing breathing. I rubbed her back and we generally just tried to stay as relaxed as possible. At around 5:45pm my wife started to bleed so we called the hospital and they told us to come back in (However, this was only after a lot of questioning which was very annoying for us. It seemed like they thought we were being dramatic) When we were about to get into the car, my wife had some serious surges! I got her back into the house and called 999.
The baby was coming and didn’t want to wait! So, I delivered our baby in the bedroom while being talked through it by the emergency operator. Our baby girl was born at 18:35pm and the emergency crew arrived at 18:40pm. The baby was healthy and happy. My wife was also happy and healthy and glad we didn’t have to leave the house. Our baby arriving at home was so lovely.
It was the most powerful and poignant moment of my life. I’m so blessed to have delivered my daughter into the world and the techniques we learnt in your Hypnobirthing classes really help us and really helped me.
