Mama C says: “My husband has also shared that practising Hypnobirthing helped him to feel more confident during the labour and birth, as he understood what was happening and had things he was able to suggest to help me feel more comfortable.”
Hi Claire
I also wanted to thank you for your pregnancy yoga and hypnobirthing classes and share our experience. Happy for you to share with others or keep to yourself as a thank you for your hard work!
Having had three miscarriages and working as a paediatric doctor resulted in me being extremely anxious, and I tried to protect myself by not looking ahead to the end of my pregnancy. By the time I reached my third trimester, I was still struggling to visualise that the pregnancy could have a positive outcome. I have to admit I had been skeptical about Hypnobirthing, but I was inspired by the birth stories that Claire shared at Pregnancy Yoga and also knew a few friends who had found it helpful, so I decided it was worth a shot.
After attending the Claire’s Hypnobirthing course and doing lots of home practice, I soon found myself feeling a lot more hopeful about the pregnancy and imagining a positive birth. By the end of the pregnancy, I was looking forward to the birth and felt very excited to meet our baby.
We were extremely lucky to experience a wonderful, calm birth in the midwifery led unit. Though there are many things we cannot control, I do feel that having a relaxed and positive mindset helped me. My labour started with my waters breaking at 2am. I went back to bed hoping to get some more sleep, however, my contractions were immediately quite intense and frequent, so we ended up going into hospital. My labour progressed smoothly and our baby was delivered at 1pm, despite being back to back. Thankfully, she has so much hair that no one realised this at the time! I remember using a lot of the Hypnobirthing visualisations, Up Breathing and Down Breathing during my labour. And I was a big fan of the gas and air! We were very fortunate to go home from hospital the same day.
My husband has also shared that practising Hypnobirthing helped him to feel more confident during the labour and birth, as he understood what was happening and had things he was able to suggest to help me feel more comfortable.
I feel so grateful and am thrilled to now be attending Claire’s mum and baby yoga classes with my little girl. Thank you for everything.
